Getting to Vancouver
There are many travel options available for you, depending on where you are coming from, your budget, and where you’d like to be sitting as you enjoy the spectacular scenery.
If you choose to travel by air, please book your flights to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
*It may be cost effective for some students to consider flying to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) or Bellingham International Airport (BLI). There are shuttle services from each to Vancouver. Check out www.quickcoach.com/schedule.htm for more details. The VSOI will offer a charter bus for students from YVR airport to the UBC campus for an additional charge.
Vancouver is very accessible by car or bus. Located just a short distance from the U.S. border, the UBC campus and the entire metro Vancouver area can be easily reached should you choose to bring your car or take a charter bus. Parking will be available on campus at UBC for an additional fee. If you take a bus that arrives to Pacific Central Station, you’ll need to use Vancouver’s public transit to get to UBC, or take the Skytrain to YVR airport and catch the VSOI charter from there.
The scenery on the train ride to Vancouver whether coming from across Canada or up the Pacific Coast of the United States is remarkable! www.rockymountaineer.com. If you live on Vancouver Island or one of the Gulf Islands, the beautiful BC Ferries or even a floatplane are great options. Vancouver’s public transit can then take you to the UBC campus, or alternatively to YVR airport, where you can then catch the VSOI charter bus heading to UBC.
